The historic fishing town of Stanley sits beneath The Nut, a sheer 150-metre volcanic plug that rises straight from the sea. Right below it, Godfrey's Beach has a free viewing platform where little penguins come ashore at dusk.
It's a quiet, self-guided spot — an easy add to a north-west Tasmanian penguin run that already takes in Penguin, Burnie and Lillico Beach nearby.
